Our Endangered Wildlife
Why We Care
Tens of thousands of injured wildlife animals are treated in South Florida rescue-rehab facilities every year.
As an outreach club, we hope to help educate others and advocate for our local wildlife population.
South Florida is the only remaining breeding ground for Florida Panthers in the world.
Protecting the native wildlife is crucial to sustaining life. If one species were to go extinct it would affect the whole food chain of that environment. The population of the plants and animals would all start to deviate from the natural order and, over time, would all end up at zero. Sustaining these environments and the wildlife will help keep our planet healthy and safe.
If Florida continues its rapid population growth over the next 5 decades and doubles in size, nearly 3 million acres of existing agricultural lands and 2.7 million acres of native habitat will be allocated to roads, shopping malls and unabated urban development.
